The Fire Rescue Services Department is responsible for:

  • Determining the need for structural firefighting services within the City of Revelstoke limits. 
  • Responding to all manner of emergency and all-hazard calls within City limits. These include calls involving emergencies such as structure and vehicle fires; rescue of trapped persons from vehicle, airplane or train crashes; hazardous materials and Carbon Monoxide alarms, and medical emergencies. 
  • Reducing wildfire risk to the community through education and promotion of FireSmart principles which have proven to be effective at reducing the risk to life and property in the most extreme wildfire conditions. 
  • Working with the Columbia Shuswap Regional District (CSRD) to provide fire protection to Electoral Area B.
  • Working with Emergency Management and Climate Readiness and BC Emergency Health Services to provide road rescue services to the traveling public along the Trans-Canada Highway 1 corridor and BC Highway 23.
