Responsibilities


The Fire Prevention Branch of Revelstoke's Fire Rescue Services is committed to improving the overall life safety of our citizens as well as of the many visitors to our city. The branch is responsible for:
  • Developing and implementing department pre-incident plans
  • Implementing and delivering fire and life safety educational programs
  • Inspecting commercial and industrial buildings, assemblies, and residential occupancies to ensure code compliance as required by the British Columbia Fire Code.
  • Investigating fires, explosions, hazardous materials incidents, and other related emergency incidents that occur within the municipality
  • Reviewing construction plans, drawings, and specifications for life safety systems; fire protection systems; access; water supplies; processes; and hazardous material, fire, and life safety issues
