FireSmart Program in Revelstoke
Revelstoke Fire Rescue is dedicated to reducing wildfire risk to our community. A community has a greater likelihood of surviving a wildfire if people within that community have made FireSmart™ improvements to their properties. It has been shown in field, laboratory and wildfire modeling research that FireSmart principles are effective at reducing the risk to life and property in the most extreme wildfire conditions.
Revelstoke Fire Rescue has adopted the FireSmart program to teach people in our community FireSmart principles and how to apply them to their properties, thereby lessening the chance of catastrophic loss in a wildfire. Revelstoke Fire Rescue is now offering free assessments of properties and neighbourhoods for Revelstoke residents who would like to improve their home and/or neighbourhoods resilience to wildfire.

Become a FireSmart Neighbourhood Champion
Did you know that we all have a major role to play in reducing the wildfire threat to our homes and neighbourhoods? Changes made to the area closest to our homes have the greatest impact on reducing the risk of wildfire damage.
FireSmart™ Canada wants to recognize neighbourhoods that begin working together to reduce their risk in the event of a wildfire. Is this something you would like to see in your neighbourhood? If so, we are looking for someone like you to be our next FireSmart Neighbourhood Champion.
A Neighbourhood Champion will help rally their neighbours and act as a point of communication with Revelstoke Fire Rescue, a Local FireSmart Representative.
Neighbours can work together to remove non-FireSmart landscaping from their private properties by sharing resources, equipment and manpower necessary to get the job done. The work is done by homeowners helping homeowners. Apply now to be your Neighbourhood Champion, email firesmart@revelstoke.ca or call 250-837-2884.
