This phase of the traffic plan will cover the work for to be completed by
November 8th.The phases of
construction are planned as following:
5th Street Area:
The entire length of 5th Street from the Community Centre to Mackenzie
Ave will be closed to traffic for approximately one to two weeks. Locals
have been notified directly by the contractor regarding access and
parking within the lanes.
Mackenzie Avenue from 5th to
6th:
Routing the water line through the intersection of 5th and Mackenzie
will close the intersection to traffic coming from the high school
towards the downtown core. This traffic will be detoured at 6th to Orton
and back to Mackenzie at 4th. Traffic leaving the downtown core heading
towards the high school will travel through the construction zone on
Mackenzie Avenue. There may be parking available on the Community Centre
side of Mackenzie for the residents. We are suggesting that this
disruption will be for approximately one to two weeks.
Traffic will be separated from the
open trench by barricades on centerline and the excavated material.
Community Centre East Parking
Lot:
The entire parking lot for the seniors will be disrupted for a 2-week
period commencing November 1. During this approximately one to two week
period the eastern access door will be closed for one day and access for
this day will be via the western access door (6th Street). Access to the
eastern door will be constructed to provide Senior Friendly access of
the balance of the construction timeframe.
Due to the time of the year and the
possibility of encountering unexpected underground utilities, we have
developed a conservative time estimate. We are considering two options
when restoring the existing asphalt surface; our first choice is hot mix
asphalt, but supply of this product is uncertain, the other option is
using cold mix until hot asphalt becomes available in the spring.
Yours truly,
Bruce Hupman PAg
Operations Manager
