1. PURPOSE
The purpose of the
Advisory Committee on Health Care will be to develop a close working
relationship between the Committee, local care providers at all levels,
local administrators and the appropriate Interior Health Authority
personnel/departments so that all avenues of dealing with the health
care issues and needs of Revelstoke citizens are fully explored before
decisions are made, with a view to ensuring that those issues and needs
are addressed.
2. MANDATE
The Committee shall
communicate, advise and make recommendations to Revelstoke City Council
on community health issues by ensuring that its work is based on factual
information, which may be:
- on matters that
Council may refer to the Committee from time-to-time.
- by receiving
input from the community at large (including patients, clients,
their families, local health care providers, etc.).
3. SCOPE OF
COMMUNITY HEALTH ADVISORY
- to promote
collaboration and effective relationships between health care
providers, non-profit societies, and the community at large;
- to identify
opportunities to improve health care services;
- to compile
elements of public concern that have not been addressed to date;
- to encourage
and promote public consultation prior to Interior Health Authority
decision-making so that it is more responsive to the needs of the
community.
4.
STRUCTURE
- The Advisory
Committee on Health Care shall be appointed by City Council.
- Names of
individuals or organizations interested in participating on the
Committee shall be solicited by newspaper advertisements.
- The Committee
shall consist of nine (10) members with seven (7) regular members
who shall be appointed at large and two (3) members of City Council.
- Committee
members will be appointed for an initial two-year term with a
one-year term renewal.
- The Chair shall
be elected by the Committee members annually and shall:

serve as
the Chair of meetings;

prepare
the agenda for meetings;

review
and approve draft minutes for distribution;

act as a
spokesperson for the Committee; and
- provide communications
(oral and written) to City Council as required.
- All meetings of
the Committee shall consist of a minimum of five (5) members to
constitute a quorum.
- Motions shall
be passed by way of a simple majority.
- The City of
Revelstoke shall provide a recording secretary who will record,
prepare and distribute the minutes of the Committee Meetings and
other materials as required.
- Regular minutes
of meetings and reports will be provided to Council.
