The City of Revelstoke invites applications from residents to serve as
members on City commissions and the Board of Variance. Community
organizations are also encouraged to submit nominations. Commission
members are volunteers appointed by Council for their interest, previous
experience, knowledge, skills and ability to represent the population of
the municipality.
Advisory Planning
Commission:
The Commission consists of nine members that provide recommendations to
Council pertaining to community planning and having particular regard to
public welfare in terms of convenience, health, safety, economical,
physical and aesthetic aspects.
Board of Variance
(City-appointed vacancy):
The Board consists of three members appointed by City Council. The Board
is an appeal body that considers applications pursuant to the Local
Government Act for variance or exemption from requirements of a bylaw when
compliance with the conditions would cause hardship."
Community
Enhancement Committee:
The Committee consists of eight members
that offer creative enhancement ideas for Council's consideration in order
to stimulate additional economic activity by attracting traffic from the
Trans-Canada Highway, furthering the development of community pride, and
enhancing the long term economic stability of the highway, Victoria Road
and downtown commercial areas.
Community Heritage
Commission:
The Commission consists of 12 members that advise Council on heritage
conservation and undertake activities that promote heritage awareness in
the community.
