| Subdivision is a legal mechanism that aids in the creation of new parcels of land. You must apply for a subdivision when consolidating two or more parcels of land, amending an existing property line or creating several parcels from an existing parcel of land.

The purpose of the subdivision process is to ensure that new parcels of land are created in a way that benefits the community's overall well being. To achieve this, subdivision applications are evaluated on the basis of several important factors, including zoning, compatibility to the existing neighbourhood and future planning. With these factors in mind, the Approving Officer may approve your subdivision plan or refuse it if it is not seen as in the best interest of the community.
