| The Agricultural Land Reserve (ALR) is a provincial regulation to protect existing agricultural lands within each community. Farming is encouraged and non-agricultural uses are limited to those that will not largely impact the land (i.e., drive-in theatres). |

| The ALR includes both private and public lands that may be vacant or currently being farmed. The protection of lands under the ALR may range from a few hectares to several thousand hectares. The ALR is comprised of all the lands in the province that have potential for agricultural production. | |
