Building permits are required whenever you wish to:
  • Construct a new home
  • Constructing a new accessory building or structure, including a retaining wall over 4 feet in height
  • Repair, renovate or add to an existing building
  • Remove, relocate, alter or construct interior walls
  • Complete a previously unfinished area in an existing building
  • Construct, cover or enclose a porch or sun deck
  • Construct a swimming pool
  • Demolish or relocate a building
Building Permits are NOT required for non-structural minor modifications such as:
  • Cupboards
  • Painting
  • Roof Repairs or re-roofing
  • Exterior finish repair or replacement, i.e.: stucco or siding
  • Landscaping, sidewalks, fences

Applications for a building permit are to be made at the Planning, Building and Bylaw Enforcement Department. The applicant must provide two sets of drawings.
