WE BELIEVE THAT:

1. Recreation includes all of those activities in which an individual chooses to participate in his/her leisure time.
    
2. Recreation is a fundamental need for people of all ages and is essential to the psychological, social and physical well being of a person.

The purpose of the REVELSTOKE PARKS & RECREATION DEPARTMENT is to coordinate the necessary resources to ensure that worthwhile and affordable opportunities exist for the constructive use of peoples leisure time in Revelstoke. This is accomplished by providing needed facilities, programs and skilled leadership in an atmosphere of enjoyment and safety.

The Department is also mandated to cooperate with any and all private recreation agencies and community organizations in coordinating recreation services for the community.
