Revelstoke Museum and Archives is
housed in the former Post Office and Customs building, constructed in
1926.
|
 |
| This beautiful, brick
heritage building has been home to the Museum and Archives since 1974. The
collection focuses on all aspects of the history of Revelstoke and
district. One unique artifact is a fur press, constructed for men's
clothing merchant F.B. Wells in 1911.
The collection of over 3000
photographs has been well-indexed for subjects and names, and a newspaper
names index is in progress, currently covering the years 1890 to 1906. The
archives also hold city tax assessment rolls from 1900 to 1926 as well as
extensive records for the Canadian Pacific Railway Revelstoke divisional
office, and the records of many community organizations.

tour of Revelstoke's history.
