The City of Revelstoke is pleased to announce the hiring of Alan Mason as
the Director of Community Economic Development. This position replaces the
Economic Development Commissioner position vacated earlier this year.
Mr. Mason has been the Manager of the
Revelstoke Community Skills Centre since it's inception in 1995. His
leadership and management skills have been integral in making the
Revelstoke Skills Centre one of the most successful in the Province.
The Economic Development Committee of
Council spent many hours reviewing and restructuring the economic
development function to ensure that current and future needs would be met.
Councillor Bill MacFarlane, Chair of the Economic Development Committee of
Council commented that "we have created a broad range of responsibilities
for the position which will allow Alan to meet the changing needs and
priorities of the community and Council."
Mayor Gail Bernacki stated that "as a
member of the Revelstoke Skills Centre Board since it was created, I have
always enjoyed working with Alan and will expect him to meet the challenge
of this position with enthusiasm and energy. We are pleased to again have
someone at the head of this department."
It is expected that Alan will assume the
position the first week of February, 2002.
The City of Revelstoke economic
development function is financed in part by the Columbia Shuswap Regional
District.
