Week 7, September 24-30, 2016 – Roundabout Update

Overview of Construction Activities:

Paving crews are expected to be on site on Monday to begin paving the round about and roadways.    Construction on the CP side of the site will also begin this week with pouring of the curb and road preparations for paving.

 Traffic Management:

As the paving is being completed traffic will be diverted using the Wilson Street detour.   Once pavement is poured and ready to drive on Wright Street will be open to traffic.

Week 6, September 17- 23, 2016 - Roundabout Update

Overview Construction Activities:
Crews are scheduled to work one day on the weekend pending on the weather. They will continue to pour the centre island and final grading will take place on the south side of the roundabout (Nomad side) with paving scheduled for Monday.

Traffic Management:
On Tuesday or Wednesday, crews will be diverting traffic onto the pavement but will still use north side detour as required. There may be some periods of single lane alternating traffic. It is still recommended that large trucks (ie. logging) use the Eastern Access as much as possible as the Wilson Street detour will not be able to accommodate them.

Thank you residents, businesses and visitors for your continued patience during the construction period.

Week 2, August 22-29, 2016 - Roundabout Construction Update

Overview

Residents can expect to see construction crews working throughout the weekend this weekend.

The construction company has been granted a noise exemption to allow for continuation of work on weekends.  The possible work hours include:
Monday to Friday 6am-8pm
Saturday             6am-8pm
Sunday               6am-8pm

Work on the north side of the work area that started in Week 1 will be completed including subbase preparation and a temporary gravel road to allow for rerouting vehicles over to the CPR side.

On Tuesday removal of the asphalt on Victoria Road will begin.   This will be completed using single lane alternating traffic.  The milled material from Victoria Road will be placed on the north detour to provide for better driving.

Once the north detour is established, traffic into town will remain two lanes, one in each direction. This will allow for work on the south side to be completed.

Wright St will be closed on Tuesday and a detour will be set up for the businesses along that street.  The one way detour will begin as a right turn off of Victoria Road through the adjoining parking lot behind the Days Inn and onto Wilson Street.

A separate detour will be set up for the Gateway Inn that will take customers up Victoria right onto Wales Street and right down First Street.

Traffic Management

Clear signage and traffic cones will control the Wright Street traffic detours.  Other traffic pattern changes will be controlled with flag personnel if required.
