AS THE
DIRECTOR OF PLANNING FOR THE CITY OF REVELSTOKE
An enviable lifestyle awaits the

beautiful river valley surrounded by mountains, it offers a diverse
range of winter and summer outdoor recreation pursuits. Now it is adding
to its attributes the new Revelstoke Mountain Resort, with all the
amenities that will bring. The excitement of change is in the air.
Responsibilities:
Reporting to the Chief Administrative Officer, the Director of Planning
will be responsible for providing leadership in the planning function
for the City and for the overall direction and performance of Planning
Department staff undertaking long range planning, current development
review and approval, and building inspection. Bylaw enforcement and
business licensing are additional responsibilities of this Department.
The Director will also be responsible for overseeing consultants
carrying out major projects such as the Official Community Plan review,
Zoning Bylaw review, and preparation of secondary plans.
Since community building is a critical
factor during this period of major change for Revelstoke, the Director
will be expected to fully engage the public to ensure community
awareness and involvement as new developments come forward. Relative to
this need, a major role for the Director will be to establish and
maintain good working relationships with community stakeholder groups as
well as developers, City staff, City Council and Council Committees.
Requirements:
Preferred candidates will offer the following: a graduate degree in
Planning or the equivalent and membership in the Canadian Institute of
Planners; extensive professional experience related to the major tasks
outlined above, including resort development experience; sound knowledge
of applicable provincial and municipal law; high professional and
ethical standards; the creativity of a community visionary combined with
the pragmatism of a skilled community developer; the ability to develop,
inspire, lead and mentor a strong staff team; and proven management and
communication skills. An equivalent combination of training and
experience will be considered.
Compensation:
A competitive compensation package will be offered to the successful
