Overview:
OPENED DECEMBER 22, 2007
Every year, more than 8,000 helicopter
and snowcat skiers from around the world flock to Revelstoke, British
Columbia, attracted by its perfect powder and varied alpine terrain.
Soon there will be another way to the top. Upon completion of Revelstoke
Mountain Resort, over 20 lifts and more than 100 ski and snowboard runs
will be created, transforming the area into a world-class resort. The
$1-billion, four-season resort will be completed over 15 years and will
include over 5,000 new housing units (1,500 resort condominiums, 2,000
hotel suites, 850 townhomes and 550 single-family lots), as well as more
than 500,000 square feet of commercial and retail space, plus a
signature golf course.
The 2007/08 season will open with
4,700 vertical feet; a new Leitner-Poma
high-speed quad lift and eight-passenger gondola; a renovated and
expanded day lodge with restaurant, deck, retail, and rentals; and 27
gladed and groomed trails, open bowls, and steep chutes. Once additional
gondolas and chairlifts are completed in the winter of 2008/09,
Revelstoke will also boast North America's longest vertical descent (and
the fourth-longest in the world): 6,000 feet of lift-serviced vertical.
The acquisition of Selkirk Tangiers
Helicopter Skiing and CAT Powder Skiing makes the resort a one-stop
destination for lift, snowcat, and helicopter skiing. Selkirk Tangiers
Helicopter Skiing is located in the heart of the world's best
heli-skiing. Two impressive mountain ranges, the Selkirks and the
Monashees, provide unmatched terrain. Unique snow conditions and mild
climate provide great powder December through April. Selkirk Tangiers
boasts over 500,000 acres of terrain with over 200 established runs.
2007 welcomes the launch of Revelstoke
Cat Skiing, offering access to untracked terrain and world-renowned
powder skiing in the legendary Selkirks. Snowcats will take skiers and
boarders to all levels of terrain, from wide-open bowls, to steep chutes
and cornices.
