The City of Revelstoke and Downie Timber Ltd. have worked cooperatively
with the assistance of Natural Resources Canada to determine the best
option for the utilization of wood waste as a heat source for a
community
energy project. The wood waste from Downie Sawmill will be combusted in a new biomass boiler. Heat will be
recovered in the form of low pressure steam for use in Downie Timber's dry kilns and
hot water will be provided to a
community energy system serving institutional and commercial buildings
in Revelstoke's downtown core.
