In 2007, a new community development action plan was completed that integrated economic, social, environmental and arts, culture & heritage goals. A key part of the planning process was the involvement of as many citizens as possible to identify community views and preferences. The project included three key phases:

  1. Information collection

  2. Identification of key issues and possible solutions

  3. Crafting of goals, objectives and action plans

During each phase community members were consulted to test the accuracy of the available information, evaluate the current situation in the community and measure community support for suggested priorities.

The 2007 Revelstoke and Area Community Development Action Plan (404KB PDF format) will guide community development for the next few years and suggests the most practical projects and tasks Revelstoke should complete to meet defined community goals and objectives.

The 2007 Community Portrait (4.2MB PDF format) compiles the information collected from available sources with the results of the 2006 Community Survey and focus group sessions to provide a description of the community. The Portrait provides detailed background information that was used in the creation of the Action Plan (404KB PDF format).

The 1994 Community Vision Statement guided this project. Though created some years ago, it continues to provide direction and perspective for the community.
