CITY OF REVELSTOKE
BYLAW No. 1879

Being a Bylaw to Amend Zoning Bylaw No. 1264, 1984 ___________________________________________________________________
WHEREAS the Council of the City of Revelstoke, Province of British Columbia, deem it necessary to amend the City of Revelstoke Zoning Bylaw No. 1264, 1984.
NOW THEREFORE the Council of the City of Revelstoke, Province of British Columbia, in open meeting assembled, enacts as follows:
1. THAT Schedule B – Definitions be amended by adding the following:
SECONDARY SUITE means a dwelling unit which is accessory to a single family residential use and is contained within the principal building.
2. THAT Section 5.9 be deleted in its entirety and replaced as follows:
5.9 Secondary Suites
Notwithstanding the definition for a single family dwelling, a single family dwelling may contain one secondary suite which may be rented, provided that the secondary suite:
(1) Shall not be located within Single Family Residential District (R1); (2) Shall not exceed a gross floor area of 90 square metres (968.78 square feet); (3) Shall not exceed 40% of the gross floor area of the building in which the principal dwelling and secondary suite are located; (4) Shall comply with Section 9.36 of the B.C. Building Code; (5) Shall be furnished with a separate exterior entrance with outdoor lighting; (6) Shall be provided with one off-street parking space; and (7) Shall be on a property that has no more than one legal title (no strata titling).
3. THAT a Public Hearing was held pursuant to Section 890 and 892 of the Local Government Act.
4. THAT this Bylaw may be cited for all purposes as the “Zoning Amendment Bylaw No. 1879”.
5. THAT this Bylaw shall take affect upon the date of its adoption by City Council.
