CITY OF REVELSTOKE
BYLAW NO.1886 ___________________________________________________________________
Being a Bylaw to Request the Imposition of an Additional Accommodation Tax within the Limits of the City of Revelstoke ___________________________________________________________________
WHEREAS the Council of the City of Revelstoke, Province of British Columbia, deem it prudent to raise revenue collected by the Hotel Room Tax;
AND WHEREAS the Council is authorized by legislation to request the Lieutenant Governor in Council to make a regulation for an additional tax levy not exceeding two percent on sales of accommodation within the municipality.
NOW THEREFORE the Council of the City of Revelstoke, Province of British Columbia, in an open meeting assembled, enacts as follows:
1. THAT Lieutenant Governor in Council is hereby requested to make a regulation under Section 43(2)(e) of the Hotel Room Tax Act (the “Act”) declaring Section 3(1) of the Act to apply in respect to accommodation purchased within the City of Revelstoke effective May 1, 2008.
2. THAT the tax to be imposed under the provision of the Act is requested to be two percent.
3. THAT all funds paid to the City of Revelstoke under the provisions of the Act shall be applied to funding of Destination Marketing Programs that are developed and administered by the Revelstoke Accommodation Association.
4. THAT this bylaw may be cited as “Additional Hotel Room Tax Levy Bylaw No. 1886”.
