Being a Bylaw to Ensure Safety Standards to a Building
_______________________________________________________________
WHEREAS the Council of the City of Revelstoke deem it necessary to order, by Bylaw, to Ensure Safety Standards to a Building located at 313 First Street East, Revelstoke, B.C.
NOW THEREFORE the Council of the City of Revelstoke, in open meeting assembled, pursuant to Section 698 of the Municipal Act, enacts as follows:
1. The owner of property legally described as Lots 6 & 7, Block 21, Section 27, Township 23, Range 2, West of the 6th Meridian, Kootenay Land District, Plan 636A, is hereby ordered to complete the following by June 15, 2000:
i. That a Snow Retention Engineer be retained to review concerns with roof pitch and determine what works are required to address safety concerns.
ii. Complete all exits from building to conform with B.C. Building Code, 1998; and
iii. Have guards and rails installed to conform with B.C. Building Code, 1998.
2. In the event the owner does not take the action specified in Section 1 of this Bylaw on or before June 15, 2000, the City by its own forces or those of a contractor engaged by the City may enter on the property described above and undertake the necessary work referred to in Section 1.
3. In the event that the City is required to take action under Section 2 of this Bylaw, the City may recover the expense from the owner, together with costs and interest at the rate prescribed in the same manner as Municipal taxes pursuant to Section 269 of the Municipal Act.
4. This Bylaw may be cited for all purposes as "City of Revelstoke Ensure Safety Standards to a Building, Bylaw No. 1629, 2000".
5. This Bylaw shall come into full force and effect upon its' adoption.
