BYLAW NO. 1609


A Bylaw for the Purpose of Adopting the Annual Budget and Tax Rates for the Year 1999


WHEREAS in accordance with the provisions of Sections 328 and 331 of the Municipal Act, Council is required, by bylaw to adopt the annual budget estimates of the municipality on or before the fifteenth day of May of each year.

AND WHEREAS a levy shall be imposed on all taxable land and improvements within the City of Revelstoke, according to the assessed value thereof, at a rate to provide the total of the amount to be raised by taxation.

NOW THEREFORE, the Council of the City of Revelstoke in open meeting assembled enacts as follows:

1. Schedule "A" attached hereto, providing for a gross expenditure of $13,755,000 and made part of this bylaw is hereby adopted and is the annual budget of the City of Revelstoke for the year ending 31 December 1999.

2. The following rates are hereby imposed and levied for the year 1999 as shown in Schedule "B" attached hereto:

(a) For all lawful general purposes of the municipality on the value of land and improvements taxable for general municipal purposes, rates appearing in Column "I" of the schedule attached hereto and forming part hereof.

(b) For debt purposes on the value of land and improvements taxable for general municipal purposes, rates appearing in Column "II" of the schedule attached hereto and forming a part hereof.

(c) For hospital purposes on the value of land and improvements taxable for Regional Hospital District purposes, rates appearing in Column "III" of the schedule attached hereto and forming a part hereof.

(d) For purposes of the Columbia-Shuswap Regional District on the value of land and improvements taxable for Regional Hospital district purposes, rates appearing in Column "IV" of the schedule attached hereto and forming a part hereof.

(e) For library purposes on the value of land and improvements taxable for general municipal purposes, rates appearing in Column "V" of the schedule attached hereto and forming a part hereof.

(f) For North Okanagan Regional Hospital District purposes on the value of land and improvements taxable for Regional Hospital District purposes, rates appearing in Column "VI" of the schedule attached hereto and forming a part hereof.

3. The minimum amount of taxation upon a parcel of real property shall be one dollar ($1.00).

4. This bylaw may be cited for all purposes as "The City of Revelstoke Annual Budget and Tax Rates Bylaw No. 1609, 1999."

5. This Bylaw shall come into full force and effect upon it's adoption by Council.
