  Mayor's Report
November 9, 2001

As you could guess, all of my time during this past week has been consumed by the problem created by the water test results showing coliform levels which were unacceptable. As I write this, we have had several further test results all showing our water to be clear of coliform. We are now investigating to find out how or why we could have had any coliform in the water or how the tests could have shown the positive levels if there were no coliform. The water plant has functioned properly throughout and all chlorine residual levels have been good. I hope that we will soon have determined the cause. I will report further at that time.

Council was pleased to receive a preliminary plan for the use of lands along Westside Road. Consultants have been commissioned to alter the plans based on the directions given by Council. Our next step after that would be to include the plan into our Official Community Plan and at that stage there will be a public process for feedback.

It was my pleasure this week to attend at the official opening ceremonies of two local grocery businesses. We are very fortunate that the store owners have seen fit to invest monies in Revelstoke and congratulate them on their beautiful new buildings. Please do your shopping at home and support these “new” businesses in our City.
