This week has been quite hectic with meetings nearly every day and more
than one on most days.
On Tuesday we met with the
consultants regarding the Community Energy Project (using wood waste from
Downie Sawmill to create energy). The report on the feasibility was quite
favourable and we must now move to the next step by deciding first what
organizational model we will use to become the major owner of the
facility. In doing so, we will be undertaking a community information
process which will provide all of the facts and proposals to the public.
Please watch for advertisements regarding open houses, consultations and
information sharing sessions.
Council met with several
officials of the Interior Health Authority on Wednesday regarding the
proposed discontinuation of Moberly Manor as a health care facility. We
were advised of the change of structure regarding health care for seniors
as distinct from “assisted living” for seniors. The Authority assured us
that no-one would be moved until a proper care plan was in place and that
Moberly Manor would not continue as a health care facility.
I also attended two days of
Water Use Planning meetings regarding BC Hydro operations. At these
sessions we made recommendations as to what studies would be needed in
order for us to develop a recommendation about future hydro operations.
I also attended the BC
Historical Society convention to bring greetings on your behalf and to
participate in the unveiling of a wall hanging setting out the
contributions of Ruby Nobbs to our city and to the local historical
society and museum.
