[ARCHIVED] Week 2, August 22-28, 2016 - Roundabout Construction Update

Overview
Residents can expect to see construction crews working throughout the weekend this weekend.

The construction company has been granted a noise exemption to allow for continuation of work on weekends. The possible work hours include:

Monday – Friday 6am-8pm
Saturday 6am-8pm
Sunday 6am-8pm

Work on the north side of the work area that started in Week 1 will be completed including subbase preparation and a temporary gravel road to allow for rerouting vehicles over to the CPR side.

On Tuesday removal of the asphalt on Victoria Road will begin. This will be completed using single lane alternating traffic. The milled material from Victoria Road will be placed on the north detour to provide for better driving.

Once the north detour is established, traffic into town will remain two lanes, one in each direction. This will allow for work on the south side to be completed.

Wright St will be closed on Tuesday and a detour will be set up for the businesses along that street. The one way detour will begin as a right turn off of Victoria Road through the adjoining parking lot behind the Days Inn and onto Wilson Street.

A separate detour will be set up for the Gateway Inn that will take customers up Victoria right onto Wales Street and right down First Street.

Traffic Management
Clear signage and traffic cones will control the Wright Street traffic detours. Other traffic pattern changes will be controlled with flag personnel if required.
