Official Community Plan: Vision Check-In Project

The City of Revelstoke’s Official Community Plan (OCP) was last updated in 2009.

OCPs typically plan for 20-years, however, a lot can change and evolve over time and Revelstoke is a prime example of that. Since 2009, the population has grown and shifted, development interests are increasing, and affordability is becoming more challenging.

City Council asked staff to launch an OCP Vision Check-In with you, the community of Revelstoke.

OCP Vision Check-in

To test the current OCP vision within the Revelstoke Community several visioning engagement events occurred between October 9th and December 8, 2019, such as:

  • Visioning Surveys/Questions
  • Visioning Pop-Up Events
  • Visioning Parties

OCP Vision Check-in Survey Results

  • Engagement Results

A summary of findings from the OCP Vision Check-in engagement events have been compiled and reported to Council. The report outlines the Engagement Outcomes, What was Learned and an Analysis.  Read the summary HERE

At Committee of the Whole on February 13th, 2020, Council supported staff’s recommendation to amend the vision to better reflect the outcomes of the community vision check-in survey: growth management, climate action, housing and support for the needs of those that live in Revelstoke.

Next Steps:

Staff will work with a Focus Group remotely in May to gather feedback on OCP vision amendment options. Once feedback is gathered, staff will complete an analysis and present to Council in the coming months.

Questions and ideas regarding the OCP Vision Process are welcome and encouraged.
